About Kyle
Kyle was born in Kealakekua and has lived in South Kona all of his life. Attending Ho’okena Elementary School and then graduating from Konawaena High School, Kyle went on to major in Political Science at the University of Hawaii, Hilo, receiving his bachelor’s degree in 2017.
Landing a prestigious congressional internship in the Washington, D.C., office of Senator Brian Schatz, Kyle assisted Schatz’ Legislative Assistants with a variety of duties, including constituent relations and a thorough legislative analysis of the president’s budget in order to help secure federal funding dollars for Hawaii.
Currently a substitute teacher for the South Kona public schools, Kyle has found enjoyment in helping our kids succeed. “As a lifelong learner myself, I find it fulfilling to pass my love of learning and investigation onto the kids,” says Kyle. “They are curious and love those challenges, which is very inspiring to me as they are our future.”
Kyle’s interests include gardening, running, racquet sports, robotics, and designing and building RC aircraft. He also enjoys international travel. “I’ve experienced a variety of places around the globe and it’s always enlightening to have visited places with smaller populations than Hawaii Island, yet with better core services and infrastructures,” he says. “It’s made me ask why the District 6 region cannot have the same quality of life. The answer is, we can.”
