Advocating for our Community.
As a lifelong resident of South Kona, Kyle K. Jones believes that the residents of Council District 6 (South Kona, Ka’u and Volcano) have, for years, been critically underserved by county government in this vast, highly rural region. “I have noticed that our area seems to be consistently forgotten about, neglected or dismissed,” says Kyle. “If you look around honestly, you see rundown or non-existent parks, unsafe, unmaintained roads, and profound lack of basic core infrastructure such as municipal water service, wastewater treatment and reasonable rubbish disposal options. County funding always seems to go to Kailua Kona or Hilo, while the residents here go without, yet we pay the same taxes as the rest of the island. It’s time that we who live and work in this large district receive a better quality of life and the improvements we deserve. And that’s what I’m here to do–Advocate for that change.”
Neglected no more. Under Kyle’s leadership, we can work together to achieve many goals to benefit neglected District 6, including:
–Safer roads; including improvements along the dangerous, county-owned 4-mile stretch between Manini Beach and the national park.
–Work to push for increased core services such as municipal water, subsidized cesspool conversions, and enhanced public parks.
–Advocate to make our community more liveable, walkable and bikeable wherever possible.
–Ease building code/inspection restrictions where appropriate to reduce the time it takes to building more housing for our residents.
